Our 12 Week Musicianship Class starts on Sunday, Feb. 14th!

Beginning this Sunday, Feb. 14, 3:30-5:30 pm, we are beginning a 12-week course entitled "Musicianship: The Metaphysics of Reading, Experiencing, and Expressing Music." This course includes everything you will need to know to be a literate, working musician. In addition, though, your consciousness will be raised by experiencing the power of music's elegance and beauty within the body. Your relationship with music will never be the same, and your confidence in making music will soar. You'll also have a lot of fun! If any of you do not yet read music (or found it dismal and difficult to learn), consider joining us!

The class meets on the following Sundays:
Feb. 14, 21, 28
March 14, 21, 28
April 4, 11, 18, 25
May 2, 9

Tuition

$360 for 12 weeks, with a deposit of $90 to enroll. As with all of the Institute's courses, there is a 2-week drop policy, after which we consider that you're with us for the duration of the 12 weeks! Of course we are happy to allow you to pay monthly or weekly as a courtesy.

As part of TVTI's ongoing effort to promote affiliated artists, we would like to share this information about an upcoming workshop offered by Portland Singer/Songwriter, HALELUPE. If you are interested in attending, contact her as soon as possible.

Performance as Authentic Embodiment Workshop

Most of us live in an old paradigm, which has us believing that great performance
is about being judged positively. Thus, we aim to gain the approval of our audiences and spend hours perfecting ourselves, our product, our look, our skills, etc. While there is certainly nothing wrong with preparing or practicing, the problem with this paradigm is that it is this striving that becomes the very thing that makes our performances nerve-racking and exhausting for us and less then compelling for our audiences.

Many of us have spent hours perfecting our musicianship, vocal or songwriting skills, but how many of us have given ourselves the opportunity to learn about the art of performance? In this workshop you will have the opportunity to start at the beginning and then, through a gentle step-by-step process, build an awareness and experience of the factors that contribute to great performances. In an atmosphere of safety and inspiration you will learn to generate a strong and fulfilling connection with your audience that will have them on the edge of their seats and falling in love with you.

In this 4-hour workshop you will:

      • BEGIN to experiment with a new paradigm of performance that will further you in your career and your ability to connect with people
      • EXPAND your understanding of what makes a great performance
      • EXPERIENCE a renewed connection with the gift of who you are and what you bring
      • DISCOVER that you, just you, are the most compelling thing you have to offer
      • LEARN preparation and delivery techniques to generate your own great performances

WHEN: Saturday, January 23rd
TIMES: 12:00pm - 4:00pm

Speaking or singing beautifully and without fear is our birthright stolen from us so that we become consumers instead of producers of voice. Its true purpose has been obscured as a celebratory activity of communion with the divine, invoking a meditative, ecstatic state in which the celebrant channels the voice of The One. This workshop introduces the techniques of vocal meditation - the four pillars (breathing, resonance, registers, diction). The pillars free the authentic voice - a perfect mirror of your soul - through which the God-Source speaks and sings to the world.

Why should you attend?

Those who use their speaking voice in the course of their professions for public speaking or personal interaction (managers, salespeople, physicians, therapists, teachers, attorneys, support personnel); Those who are looking to improve their vocal demeanor; those who wish to learn how to their voice as a means of meditation; those who wish to experience their authentic voice.

Workshop Includes

  • Breathing techniques for speech that energize the voice, induce a meditative state and reduce stress
  • Techniques to invoke and recognize the Meditative State
  • Breathing and Resonance techniques for finding power, endurance, and
  • Techniques for reducing hoarseness
  • Techniques to transcend fear of public speaking
